Public Hearing: PY 2018 Community Development Block Grant Allocation Program

The Medina County Board of Commissioners intends to apply to the Ohio Development Services Agency, Office of Community Development for funding under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program Year 2018 Community Development Program, a federally funded program and other related programs administered by the State of Ohio, Development Services Agency. Medina County is eligible to apply for PY 2018 funding under the Community Development Allocation Program (CDBG – $372,000), Neighborhood Revitalization (CDBG – $300,000), Downtown Revitalization (CDBG – $300,000) and Critical Infrastructure (CDBG – $300,000) competitive set-aside programs, Residential Public Infrastructure (CDBG – $500,000), and Economic Development (CDBG – $500,000) grants provided the County meets applicable program requirements.
The first of two (or more) public hearings will be held Friday, May 11, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. in the Medina County Commissioners Meeting Room located at 144 North Broadway, Medina, Ohio 44256, to provide citizens with pertinent information about CDBG programs including an explanation of eligible activities and program requirements. The CDBG program can fund a broad range of activities, including: economic development projects, streets, water supply, drainage and sanitary sewer improvements, park improvements, demolition of unsafe structures, rehabilitation of housing, and neighborhood facilities. The activities must be designed to primarily benefit low and moderate income persons, aid in the prevention or elimination of slum and blight, or meet an urgent need of the community.
Citizens are encouraged to attend this meeting on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. to provide their input on the County’s CDBG program. No final decisions regarding projects will be made at this hearing.
Immediately following the public hearing a Community Development Implementation Strategy (CDIS) meeting will be held. The purpose of the CDIS meeting is to disseminate information about grant funding opportunities and to assist with identifying and prioritizing potential projects. Stakeholders are encouraged to attend.
