Water Distribution Worker


The Medina County Board of Commissioners seeks a full-time Water  Distribution Worker for the Sanitary Engineering Department.


Performs troubleshooting, maintenance, installation and repair of water meters, hydrants, valves, curb boxes, electrical panel, etc. associated with the water distribution system.  Reads/records water usage of residential, commercial and industrial customers.  Takes water samples, performs chlorine tests, checks pressure(s), interrogates water system through the use of a computer system.  Maintains accurate records/drawing of meter sets & locations, valves, curb boxes, etc.  Assists in repairs as needed on water system.  Performs housekeeping in water towers and water pumping stations.


High school graduate or equivalent.  Ohio EPA Water Distribution Certification preferred, and is required within two (2) years of hire to retain employment.  Good communication skills both verbally and in writing accurately; perform basic mathematical calculations; maintain accurate records; utilize & operate a variety of hand and power tools; perform basic mechanical functions; perform heavy manual labor for an extended period of time and ability to work outside during inclement weather and adverse conditions.  Computer knowledge helpful.  Valid Ohio Driver’s License and clean driving record.

Hours:  8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. or as needed for emergencies.  On-call rotation hours.

Hourly rate:  $15.92 (Union position)
