Facilities Maintenance Assistant Director (Full-Time)

The Medina County Board of Commissioners is seeking a full-time Assistant Director for their Maintenance Department.  The Maintenance Department is responsible for 26 buildings located throughout Medina County, a fleet of 158 vehicles.  Responsible for the building and grounds maintenance, office cleaning and vehicle maintenance.

Assist the Facilities Director in all aspects of vehicle maintenance, cleaning, and building and grounds maintenance. Assists with the management of staff of the Facilities Department.  Assist with project development and execution.  Engage third-party contractors and consultants when necessary to determine the most appropriate solutions to operational requests and needs while managing projects simultaneously. Plans, organizes, directs, and manages the operations and building systems across multiple locations including technical and general maintenance, renovation, and contract services. Proactively inspect/survey properties, structures, and buildings to identify repair, update, and improvement opportunities. Provide exceptional customer service to all County employees, contractors and departments.  Assists the Facilities Director in estimating labor and material costs, preparing plans and reviewing skilled building trades work.  Participate in preparing annual maintenance budgets.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public administration, business administration, construction technology, engineering, facilities maintenance or a related field.  Plus five years of progressively responsible experience in building trades, construction management, or facilities management, including at least three years of relevant supervisory/management responsibility or a combination of relevant and related education, training, and experience which would demonstrate the individual’s possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties listed above.

FMC (Facilities Management Certificate) or FMP (Facilities Management Professional) preferred.

Possess valid Ohio driver’s license with good driving record and proof of adequate vehicle insurance.

Exempt, day shift, additional hours based on department need.  Main buildings are open to the public from 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. There are buildings that are open 24 hours.   May require response to emergency issues.

$70,000–$75,000 annual salary
