A Note About Recent Flooding And Flood Insurance

Ohio Revised Code does not hold Sewer Authorities responsible for sanitary sewer back-ups unless the Sewer Authority is found negligent in their maintenance responsibilities. As a result, Medina County’s insurer rarely reimburses individuals for damages due to sewer back-ups. Medina County recommends that all customers review the flood provisions of their insurance policy to make sure they are covered for damages caused by sewer back-up.
